Time for Change

Lately I have been having a very hard time feeling attractive. I'm just not happy at all with how I look. I am 20 pounds heavier than I was when I met Shaun. TWENTY pounds. And I can definitely feel it, especially around my face. Yes, I know I've had two kids since then, so I've got great (and adorable) excuses. But I would love to be able to be IN pictures of my kids without feeling terrible. I'm just tired of thinking "...gah..." every time I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror or photo.

So it's time for action. We've been eating a lot healthier around here since Flynn was born. But we need to kick it up a notch. I'm worried about dieting too much because I don't want it to affect my milk supply. But improvements in our eating habits can definitely be made. I've also started working out again. I'll be documenting my progress on this here blog, as a way to keep myself motivated.

I took "Before" photos, but they are horrible and I don't want to post them! So instead I'll post some "WAY Before" photos of pre-baby me.

I sure did have some awesome styles back in the day! Fanny packs never looked so good! Haha!

Happy Memorial Day

I hope your day is filled with sunshine and watermelon! We had a lovely picnic lunch at the park today and now we are home relaxing while the kiddos nap. I'm hoping to get some creative projects finished up today, and I'm planning some big changes around here. I'll go into more detail about that tomorrow. For now I'll just go spend some quality time with my sewing machine.

MORE Cakes!

I have been baking up a storm this month! First, I made this mini-cake for Mother's Day. Then this week I baked an awesome rainbow cake for a fundraiser cake auction and a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse birthday cake for a friend. The rainbow cake was fun!

Here it is at the cake auction with the Queen of Lollipops herself.  Yay for cheesy animated gifs!

And here is the Mickey cake. I only had time to snap a couple of photos before I had to leave. The clubhouse is made of fondant. It was tricky, but it turned out super cute!

Two Months Old

Two months already, huh? I might as well start planning his 18th birthday...

He had his 2 month appointment today and he weighs 13lbs 11oz. He's a big guy! But he still seems so small to me. (Probably because Juniper is so much bigger than him.) I'm very much enjoying the tiny baby stage. I love love love his big gummy smiles and sleepy cuddles. He's wonderful ♥

Mini Cake Challenge - May

Here is my mini cake for May. I decided to do a Mother's Day cake for when my mother-in-law came to visit. Overall, I like the cake, but I don't LOVE the cake. It turned out alright. A little boring. This cake was my inspiration, and I should have stuck with the green. The blue turned out a little too bright I think. And I still need to practice my lettering. Hmmm... that gives me an idea for next month! *plotting*

I love how the colors in these photos is a little crazy though.

Oh, hi there.

The past week has gone by in a blur! We had a lot of fun with family in town last weekend and it's taken me 4 days to get back into a normal routine! I DID have the house cleaned all up on Tuesday, but I decided to do some sewing and well... Let's just say, my creative process tends to be a bit chaotic.

So what better way to end my bloggy silence than sharing this recent obsession? Peep smores! (I totally just wrote poop smores... eww) Microwave a peep for 20 seconds, and stick it on a chocolate covered graham cracker. Oh. My. Yum. I may or may not have eaten 5 of these today... It's settled. I'm never going to lose this baby weight...

Mother's Day

I only wanted two things for Mother's Day this year.

1) A cute photo with both kids in the same picture. Amazingly we got Juniper to sit still long enough to take one! (Yet again wearing their matching outfits. I promise my kids own other clothes!)

2) A love letter from Shaun. Which of course, I didn't tell him that I wanted. You can't just say "Hey you, write me a love letter!" Well, I guess you COULD... But I'm old fashioned. I did get my letter though!! It was wonderful. I have such a great husband. I love my little family. ♥

My mother-in-law sent me this BEAUTIFUL necklace. Isn't it pretty! I've been wearing my engagement ring on the same chain, because sadly it doesn't fit my fat, post-baby finger at the moment... Is it sad that one of my fitness goals is to be able to wear my engagement ring again?

I've got so many fun things planned for the next week! Lots of sewing projects, some creative baking and a craft night! AND we have family visiting this weekend, which I ALWAYS love!

Hat!

One of my Birthday Goals this year was to learn how to sew hats, and now I can cross that one off! And it only took one failed attempt! I even remembered to draft a pattern as I went so I can make more. (I'm not usually that organized when I'm being creative.) A little tweaking and it'll be perfect.

This hat is so cute on my Flynn, I just can't stand it! Is there anything cuter than little boys in hats?

And guess what? I'm still not quite done with this project. I'll be sharing more pictures soon.

5 Things

1. Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! I love being married to a math teacher. Somehow that makes me feel smarter. So I made him this lovely surprise today, to thank him for my false sense of intelligence ♥

2. A sneak peak at a project I'm working on. Yes, this is a terrible picture. But it's super late and my cute model didn't exactly enjoy wearing a photocopy of my Social Security card on his head.

3. I seriously need to make this rainbow cheesecake. How pretty is that?! I bet it tastes like sparkly happiness.

4. I really want to go to the beach.

5. Is it against the rules to buy myself a Mother's Day gift?? I just love these domed pendants. While I'm at it I might as well buy myself some roses and some Chocolove raspberry dark chocolate. (Sooooooo yummy!)
