Craft Room Inspiration

My craft area is a disaster. As usual. So I'm sitting here, staring at it, trying to get motivated to start working on it. BUT of course that just doesn't sound very appealing right now. So instead I'll just post pretty pictures of what I wish my art room looked like. *sigh*

"I'd rather have art stuff all over the living room and have an artistic wife

than have a spotless clean living room and a boring, dull wife" ♥

(Don't I just have the best husband ever?)

Everything about this craft room is gorgeous, but I especially love
this magnetic inspiration wall.

I'm loving the clothes line look ♥

This room is so beautiful! I love the colors and the natural lighting!!
I wish I knew Spanish so I could read this blog.

I love that chair.. And the colors!

COLOR! Oh how I love thee!
I can't wait until we own a house that I can paint ♥

I love all those shelves! And the huge table!
And that is definitely what mine would look like...

I Love Weekends ♥

After an extremely stressful week at the office, I finally had some time to relax and do some sewing on Friday night. I finished up two outfits for Juniper, made a new stuffed animal, started a drawing commission, and finished up some projects for my sister's new baby. (AND I got to spend lots of quality time with my sweet Juniper ♥ It's been a nice couple of days. Of course, I'm dreading going back to work.. There is so much to be done... But my boss is giving me a day off next week since I worked so hard this past week so that'll be nice!!

Anyhow, I'm rambling...

Here is one of the cute dresses I made for Juniper. It was a blouse I picked up at the Goodwill Clearance Center for next to nothing. (1$ a pound. LOVE that place!!)

And look!! It matches her kitty!

And here is a cute shot of the new toy. I made the bigger guy a while back. Now he has a little boy! I'm going to make a whole family :)

And in unrelated news, look what I found on my cherry tomato plants!!

Well it's off to clean up the whole house as a Father's Day Gift! Hope your weekend is going as well as mine!

I Shirred!

I've been wanting to try elastic shirring FOREVER, but I'd been too intimidated by it since I'm new to sewing. Plus, I had a hard time finding elastic thread. I finally decided to give it a try last night, and I'm addicted! This top turned out so cute! I'll definitely be experimenting more with it when I get some free time.

I used the skirt portion of a 5T dress that I had been trying to modify to be Juniper's size. (It didn't work out...) And I of course had to add a fabric flower to the front!

Juniper wasn't being very cooperative for the camera. But she sure looked darling in her new top!

Recycled Materials Diaper Bag

When I started learning to sew, I got a request from my sister (who is preggo with girlie #3) for a diaper bag made from recycled materials. Sounded like a fun project to me! I am fairly happy with the outcome. It definitely looks handmade! Which I guess is a good thing, right? It's made with love :)

One thing I think a good diaper bag needs is lots of pockets, so I was excited when I found this skirt at the Goodwill Clearance Center. (oh how I love that place) It had lots of great pockets on the outside, PLUS it was actually a skort so it had shorts underneath with which I made MORE pockets.

The inside is lined with the fabric from a knitted woman's top. And the pocket on the inside is brown corduroy from an old pair of pants of mine. (I've used that corduroy in several projects so far!)

I made two extra pockets on the outside. The smaller one closes with a button, for pacifiers or whatever ends up in it. And the second pocket is made from the sleeve of the shirt I lined the inside with, and will be great for holding a bottle.

I hope it is sturdy enough to withstand life as a diaper bag. I learned a lot so hopefully my next big bag project will turn out a little better. I hope you like it Lil!

Art Journal - Entry #1

I started an art journal of sorts. It's not in book form yet. I'll bind all of the pages together once I'm done. I finished the first page today. This is probably the most therapeutic thing I have ever done. It's hard for me to explain how I've been feeling lately, but by the time I was done with this illustration, I felt so much better.

It's also the first time I've ever done something this conceptual. (I'm more of a realist when it comes to drawings) I enjoyed not having any rules. I just drew whatever was in my mind.

I just realized the scanner cut off the left edge...
